‘The Distant Song’ is a short collection of the author’s English poetry written in his early years. It is a beautiful combination of eastern philosophy and western expression. In his poems Amir at times reflects on the world (see, A Wish for the world), sometimes reveals his inner most feelings for his children (see, O! Children, My Children), expresses his love (see, How Many Times), and admires the beauty of Nature (see ‘An Apology to Nature’). There are few translations of Urdu Rubaiyat and a short one act drama of the last days of President Nixon’s presidency. All his poetry is passionate and heart rendering. It is in the author’s poems, one can see the East meet West.
